(Eas Ploda in Gaelic; pronounced “es-PLOD-duh”) Even though it is one of the most breathtaking waterfalls in the Highlands, Plodda Falls is still relatively unknown among tourists. It is not difficult to combine a trip to Plodda Falls with stops in Drumnadrochit and Glen Affric within the same vacation.
From Drumnadrochit, follow the signs for Cannich, and once you reach Cannich, continue following the signs for Tomich until you reach Plodda. Because the roads in this area are so narrow, you should definitely take your time. If you're looking for a place to get a bite to eat in the neighbourhood, we suggest either the charming Coach-House Café in Tomich or the Bog Cotton Café in Cannich.
You can park for free in the area that is close to the waterfall, and when you get there, just take the route that is marked off from the parking lot. From this location, you can access a number of different walking paths. The Plodda Falls Trail is by far the most travelled of the bunch.
Take the short trail down to the waterfall from the parking lot; from here, you will have the best view from the wooden viewing platform; if you dare, gaze over the edge.
A simple hike can be had by beginning at the parking area and following the path that leads directly to the waterfalls.
Along the Tweedmouth Walk, you will note that there are a number of alternative options available to prolong the length of your walk. One of these options will lead you to the Douglas fir pine trees in Scotland that are the tallest in Scotland.
