Verbier has some of Europe's steepest and best off-piste skiing
and some of its liveliest nightlife.
Verbier is mainly chalet-style buildings, being impressively set on a wide, sunny, tree-filled balcony beneath spectacular peaks. It's a fashionable, yet informal, very lively place which teems with a young (20s rather than teens) cosmopolitan clientele. But it's no longer exclusive. The centre of town, where most of the typical touristy ski resort shops and hotels are to be found, is set around the Place Centrale. A fair proportion of the nightlife is here too, though bars are rather scattered - so there's not much evening street life. There's a good sports centre and an efficient free bus service.
