Val-Thorens' great attraction is its height and the north-facing direction of most of its slopes. It has the highest skiing in the Trois Vallees and a couple of glaciers, more or less guaranteeing good snow conditions for a long season - October to May, plus summer skiing. On top of all this you have the skiing of the rest of the Trois Vallees on your doorstep. For the keen skier looking for the best snow, it's difficult to think of anywhere better. The resort is purpose-built and opened in the early 1970s.
