The village is a classic post-war Tyrolean tourist development: modern, chalet-style, and with the warm glow of wood skill fully applied to interiors and exteriors alike. Seefeld sits on an elevated plateau to the north of the Inn valley, not far from Innsbruck, to which it is linked by railway. Ehrwald and Garmisch (over the nearby border in Germany) are also within easy reach.
Seefeld's ski area consists of two main sectors, both on the outskirts and reached from most hotels by ski-bus. Gschwandtkopf is a rounded hill giving 300m vertical of intermediate skiing down two main slopes. Rosshiitte is a more extensive but still very limited area. A funicular goes up to the main congregation area at 1800m, and a cable-car then goes up to 2100m.
