Ski Pamporovo

Pamporovo (1450m) is far better for beginners and early intermediates, with mostly easy skiing. Others may find 25km of short runs too limited.

But the skiing is pretty and sheltered, with pistes cut through pine forest. Skiing around is easy, with no bottlenecks or hazards, and getting lost is difficult even in the worst weather.  (You can also get Bulgarian ski passes at half the local price by booking them from the UK.)

Despite having to bus to the slopes, families praise Pamporovo. Not only is the skiing suitable but the English-speaking creche is well regarded, and the purpose-built village has 'everything to hand'.

The ski school's instructors are patient, enthusiastic and speak good English, and class sizes are usually quite small.  The Perelik has a large pool.

The organised evening events are popular, and there are some bars, but Pamporovo is generally quieter and less commercialised than Borovets.
