Oporto is Portugal’s second largest city with ancient roots it is a modern and lively thriving city. The Cathedral has various monuments, such as the Renaissance church of Santa Clara with narrow streets and typical houses; here you can find fashionable restaurants and bars, jewelleries and leather goods shops, and the colourful market of Bolhão, where you can buy almost anything. Oporto is the capital of Portugal's most famous wine region here you will find most of the Port lodges where the wines are aged, the characteristic sailboats, the "Barcos Rabelos", which used to ship Port downstream from the vineyards, can still be seen today but no longer used to transport, they are kept for an annual race, held in Oporto in June every year.  Eating and drinking is one of the pleasures of a visit to 0porto stopping at one of the legendary cafes, there is a variety of restaurants specializing in everything from traditional cuisine, to vegetarian.
