Lot-et-Garonne in France is bordered by Dordogne, Gers, Gironde, Landes, Lot, and Tarn-et-Garonne, this region is named after the Lot and Garonne rivers that run through it. Here you can find the outstanding medieval Château de Bonaguil, along with other fine châteaux’s such as Duras, Poudenas and Gavaudun, having over 40 examples of Bastides, with Romanesque churches, arcades and timber-framed houses, exceptional examples of fortified mills, numerous windmills, many substantial farmhouses with wooden tobacco drying sheds, producing a large amount of tobacco, much of which was until recently processed locally at Tonneins.
The traveller will find an abundance of rural architecture to view here, with many acres of land being devoted to vineyards, producing excellent AOC wines as well as vins de pays this region has much to see and do.
