Les Deux-Alpes offers are different to most French resorts. Les Deux-Alpes is streets ahead of most high-altitude French resorts. It may not be a pretty village, but it is much more appealing in the evening than many of its rivals, thanks to the unusually large number of lively and varied bars and discos - many of which remain busy until the early hours. Although there is no centre as such, and lifts are spread fairly evenly along the village, a couple of focal points are evident. The resort has grown up haphazardly over the years - it is very far from being purpose-built - and there is a wide range of building styles, from old chalets, to more sympathetic recent developments. The village is unusually lively for a French resort, which helps the general ambience.
