Lanzarote Blessing
Lanzarote offers some lovely locations for weddings, for the marriage service and reception such as Lago Mar restaurant which was once owned by the actor Omar Sharif, built into the side of a mountain at Oasis de Nazaret the venue offers a wonderful restaurant with the most wonderful architecture embracing the rock formations of the red sandstone mountain.
Puerto Calero enjoys a reputation of being one of the most attractive Marinas in Europe an ideal place to hold a wedding service or reception with its wonderful restaurant which looks out to sea, it also provides a function suite which is on the upper floor.
Casa Tegoyo is a small Hotel rural on the outskirts of the village of Conil it has a lovely private dining area for functions along with a sunken court yard and swimming pool, rooms are available for guests. The hotel has the feel of a Canarian Finca with a tunnel which leads under the road to a small chapel where locals still place flowers.
As Spain is a Catholic country , the church facilitates the legalities of the marriages through their own system. But for those couples who are of other religions there is a resident Chaplin who can perform the wedding ceremony as long as the actual marriage has been registered in their place of residence with the local registry office etc. As the ceremony is a full one with the signing of the register etc, most couples decide not to inform their wedding party of their civil marriage prior to the wedding but to treat the day as their actual wedding. - The marriage can take place on Lanzarote in a Roman Catholic Church ceremony provided that:Either the Bride or Groom is Roman Catholic
- Neither have been divorced
- If eligible for a Church Wedding the ceremony must take place in a Roman Catholic Church .
- Only a Blessing of a Civil Ceremony can take place on the beach.
