Small townhouse - 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom - sleeps 4 - in a pretty spot close to a railway station. Trains run from Algeciras to Granada, 4 each way per day. Ronda : 32 minutes. Price: 2 Euros!
We are virtually next to the River Guadiaro and in a nature reserve. A restaurant(Quercus)is a few steps from our door.
Three minutes away is the newly constructed municipal swimming pool.
Inside - living room with open fireplace; fully fitted separate kitchen. There is also air con.
Upstairs are two bedrooms – one double, one twin.
The outdoor space is just a tiny patio at the rear.
Gaucin and Ronda are each about thirty minutes drive. There are lots of quiet white villages around and well-marked walks.
The coast is about one hour by car. Or take thr train to San Roque.
This is a very pretty spot south-west of Ronda, a few steps from a railway station. This is worth taking note : A stunning train journey on the Andalucia Express: Algeciras – Ronda One of Europe’s great short rail journeys, this 50-mile stretch through the Ronda mountains was built from 1890-1892 by the British so that their officers, and passengers on cruise ships bound for the east, could escape the heat of Gibraltar by heading upwards. There are four trains each way per day. Ronda is a 32 minute ride and the price is 2 Euros! It was a British engineer named Henderson who was responsible for the construction of the Ronda-Algeciras line. The train that plied this route came to be known as the Smugglers Express. It went so slowly that contraband butter, cocoa and tobacco from Gibraltar could be sold from the train windows! Also a short ride in the opposite direction is Gaucin, another really stunning 'white village' colonised to some extent by artists and writers and good for lunching out, but still essentially a Spanish backwater. Three minutes drive away is the newly constructed municipal outdoor swimming pool in a breathtaking setting a little higher up the valley. Gaucin and Ronda (both on the train line moments from your front door) are each about thirty minutes drive. There are lots of quiet white villages around and also well-marked walks. The Griffon Vulture is one of the wildlife spectacles in the area. The coast is about one hour by car. Or take the train down to Algeciras - about 5 Euros each way(!) and catch a boat to Africa. We are not asking a high rent - we'd just like to see the place occupied!
