Sleeping 8, the house is split over 3 floors and has 4 double bedrooms, large living area and a well-equipped kitchen/dining room. There is a balcony and a terrace with outdoor furniture and the views across the valley are stunning. There is 1 bathroom (with separate shower), 1 shower room and an additional WC. The house also has a wood burning stove, dishwasher, DVD player, piano, Satellite TV, parking, and a fondue set for the ultimate Swiss experience! All 4 bedrooms have quality pine beds, built in wardrobes and a desk/table and chair. The 2 bedrooms on the ground floor have french doors which open directly onto a terrace, with uninterrupted views across the valley. The upstairs bedrooms have similarly scenic outlooks. The living room has french doors onto a large balcony and steps which lead down to the terrace and garden. There is ample outdoor furniture and breathtaking views.
Perfect for a group of friends or for families - a cot and highchair is provided and there are swings and a slide seconds from the front door.
The house is centrally situated for the village and is just a few minutes walk from the train station. During the ski season a free shuttle bus runs between the station and the cable car for easy access to the skiing area.
The village of Disentis is dominated by a beautiful medieval monastery. The village is quiet and peaceful whilst having amenities such as small supermarkets, gift shops, banks, restaurants, bars and cafes. The area is largely undiscovered by the masses though there is a very helpful tourist information office in the village.
The first language in the area is Romontsch, followed by German. French and Italian are also universally spoken and many people speak and understand basic English.
Disentis has a skiing area reaching up to 3000m with prepared pistes suited to all levels, the lifts are open from December to April (exact dates available on request). There are 3 ski-hire shops in the village and ski school is available.
Good weather, amazing scenery, clean mountain air and the Alpine flora and fauna make Disentis a lovely place to visit in the summer as well as winter. The tourist office provide maps of hiking, walking and mountain-biking routes and there is a swimming pool in the next nearby village of Sedrun.
Other facilities and attractions include outdoor ice rink, indoor climbing wall, tennis courts, local museums and galleries, the historic monastery, thermal baths (in a neighbouring village) and the scenic railway which is perfect for exploring the surrounding area.
From Zurich airport, the house can be reached in just 2.5 hours by car, or around 3 hours by train. You can search train times and connections at www.rail.ch
It is completely your choice if you want to have a car or not, all local amenities are close by on foot and the house is very close to the railway station (5 minutes walk).
