Grindelwald is a much expanded, traditional mountain village, set at the bottom of some of Europe's best climbing terrain, with the north face of the Eiger towering dramatically above. The main ski area is shared with Wengen and has stunning views - unmatched except perhaps by those from Murren. When conditions are good, the skiing matches the scenery - at least for intermediates. But it has a loyal following of people for whom skiing is only one part of a winter holiday. It is best suited to leisurely skiers who aren't too fussed if conditions are less than ideal.
