Orne is in the region of Basse-Normandie it boarders  Calvados,  Eure, Eure-et-Loir, Mayenne and Sarthe the capital is Alençon once  the lace capital of Europe which has always been a prosperous town since the  tax collecting days of the 17th century Here you will find forest of ash and oaks providing the materials for the  half-timbered houses, and traditional farmhouses found here. The ancient capital of Mortagne au Perche is still important as a market town it is an excellent base from which to explore the area.

The Gastronomy is another good reason to come here the village of Camembert is where Camembert cheese was first produced with meadows and orchards, creams, apple & pear brandy, cider all being produce. The rivers, lakes and ponds provide a popular area for walking, riding, climbing, canoeing and other river sports.

The Parc Regional de Normandie-Maine is the largest national park offering sports activities, there is an Equestrian Centre at Haras du Pin it is well known for its horse shows and dressage events, or visit the thermal spa of Bagnoles-de-L'Orne with its lake, gardens & casinos for treatments and therapy.
