Turkey offers a great destination for holidays with its wonderful weather great beaches and historical wonders, it occupies a position between Europe and Asia. This geographical location has had a major influence on the history of Turkey and on the politics and culture of its people. At one time Turkey was the heart of the large Ottoman Empire that contained much of the Middle East, North Africa, and south eastern Europe.

The area of Turkey is about 300,000 square miles with approximately 97 percent of Turkey lying in Asia and about 3 percent designated as lying in Europe. The area which is classified as Asian is made up of a long peninsula, with the Black Sea to the North and to the south the Mediterranean. In the southeast it borders Syria and Iraq, in the east Iran, and in the northeast Georgia and Armenia. The European part of Turkey borders Greece and Bulgaria.

The main attraction for many holiday makers is the area which straddles Mediterranean Sea with its wonderful beaches and hidden coves offering days of endless sunshine. Inland you will find Turkey to be made up of high plateaus with temperatures much lower than the coastal areas due to the height. The mountain ranges of Turkey are the Pontic mountains, the Tauras anti anti Tauras with the highest mountain being Mount Ararat at some 16,853 feet.
