Dubrovnik Dubrovnik is the most southern city in Croatia, and the most practical way to reach the city is by air.
There are daily flights from London to Dubrovnik with daily flights from Zagreb to Dubrovnik and three flights a week from Dublin? This is small fortified city that lies on the Dalmatian coast it is often referred to as the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’. Founded in the seventh century it became an important sea-trading port in the late Middle Ages, here you can find Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings providing the traveller with history of this town’s rich and glorious past.
The old town was completed in the 13th century and remains virtually unchanged to the present day. Tall ramparts surround it and there are only two entrances to the old town which lead to the Stradun, the city's promenade.
One of the greatest pleasures for many visitors is to have a drink in one of the nearby cafes and watch the world go by. The main highlight of the cultural calendar in Dubrovnik is the 45-day Summer Festival, which sweeps through the city from mid-July to late August. Most major buildings in the old town, including the Sponza Palace and the Rector’s Palace, become festival venues with theatre, dance, classical music and visual arts all well represented.
In Croatia private coast are non existent, and the whole coast with its islands is frankly one massive beach. You can just take off in your car or a pleasure craft, drive or sail along the coast to find your one perfect place, you can discover one of Croatia's 1185 islands, diving and water sports are popular.
